South Africa - at last!

It is 51 years since I was last in South Africa!  For one reason and another I have never visited Mark and Margo in Sodwana Bay.  But now I have - and historically so!

My account of the visit can be found in two parts - click on the links if you wish to read them!!

I have also uploaded two versions.

Some of my readers find it difficult to download the pdf docs as they can exceed 1MB.

So there is an option to download just the text and not the accompanying photos - maybe better than nothing!?

(BTW it's in two parts because I could not get the whole thing to upload - limitations of my Rwandan connection!)

The Long and Winding Road ........

Leads to this door.  A small, but vocal, axis of disbelief has suggested that I am just touristing on Goat Kebab and Rwanda beer - calumny!!  Here is the counter evidence.

PS I have uploaded my few Ethio blogs - a well kept secret - just in case anyone is remotely interested!  Not sure why, I decided not to edit in any way, though some posts needed it.  If you can be bothered - I enjoyed writing them.

Today I went to Nyarubuye.....

Nyarubuye is a small hamlet about 30 mins by moto from Nyakarimbi in the Eastern Province of Rwanda.  It is the location of a Genocide Memorial to those who were killed in the large Catholic church and surrounding area in June 1994.  At the time it was the subject of a BBC Panorama programme;  Fergal Keane was the reporter.  He later wrote about his experiences in Rwanda at the time of the Genocide.  Click on the link for my account of our visit.

Still can't think of a way to upload to the blogsite.  I can't really compose in real time on the web - connection is far too slow.  Anyway - here it is.

Best wishes

Welcome to Rwanda

Hello all
Still haven't sorted out how best to do this thing.
Thought I could upload files such as doc or pdf but how eludes me at present!!

For the present you can access a first document by clicking on this link:

Perhaps that's the way to go?

Anyway - more anon.

Cheers
